Boys Like Girls is an American pop-rock band that emerged from Andover, Massachusetts, in 2005. The original lineup featured Martin Johnson as lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, Bryan Donahue on bass, John Keefe on drums, and Paul DiGiovanni as lead guitarist. They initially made a name for themselves by performing in local venues across the Massachusetts coastline, including basements, garages, and VFW halls, before breaking into the broader music scene.

In 2006, the band released their self-titled debut album, which quickly gained commercial success. The album included hit singles like The Great Escape, Hero/Heroine, Five Minutes to Midnight, and Thunder, which became anthems for many fans of the pop-punk and emo genres. The catchy melodies and relatable lyrics helped Boys Like Girls capture a wide audience, solidifying their place in the pop-rock scene.

Their second album, Love Drunk, dropped in 2009 and showcased a more mature sound, with a shift toward a pop-oriented style. In 2012, they released Crazy World, further embracing their pop influences. After a hiatus, the band reunited in 2023 to release Sunday at Foxwoods, their first album in over a decade, which was met with positive reviews and praised for their musical growth.

Over the years, Boys Like Girls earned several accolades, including the Breaking Woodie award at the 2007 mtvU Woodie Awards. Their journey from local acts to international stars underscores their lasting influence on the pop-rock genre.
