Blackbriar is a Dutch alternative metal band formed in 2012 in Assen, Netherlands. Known for their unique blend of gothic rock, symphonic metal, and alternative elements, they create a dark, atmospheric sound that captivates listeners. The band’s music is distinguished by intricate instrumentation and haunting vocals, primarily led by Zora Cock, whose voice has drawn comparisons to iconic artists like Kate Bush and Amy Lee.

The current lineup includes René Boxem on drums, Bart Winters on lead guitar, Robin Koezen on rhythm guitar, Ruben Wijga on keyboards, and Siebe Sol Sijpkens on bass. Together, they bring a blend of cinematic metal, combining gothic imagery with powerful melodies that have resonated deeply with fans of both gothic and symphonic metal.

Blackbriar’s discography includes two full-length albums: The Cause of Shipwreck (2021) and A Dark Euphony (2023), both released under Nuclear Blast Records. Their debut album received acclaim for its captivating mix of symphonic elements and dark storytelling. They’ve also released singles and EPs like “Ready to Kill,” “Until Eternity,” and “Moonflower,” which have garnered significant attention on streaming platforms like YouTube.

In 2019, Blackbriar supported Epica during their Design Your Universe 10th Anniversary Tour and later performed at AFAS Live in Amsterdam alongside Halestorm and In This Moment. Their music continues to solidify their place in the European metal scene, establishing them as a prominent act in the world of gothic and symphonic metal.
