Beartooth is an American rock band formed in Columbus, Ohio, in 2012. It was originally the solo project of Caleb Shomo, who had previously been a member of Attack Attack! Looking for a fresh creative outlet, Shomo began writing and recording music on his own in his basement, leading to the birth of Beartooth. Initially, he handled all the instruments and production himself.

As the project gained momentum, Beartooth solidified its lineup with Shomo as the lead vocalist, Taylor Lumley on lead guitar, Kamron Bradbury on rhythm guitar, Oshie Bichar on bass, and Brandon Mullins on drums. In 2013, they signed with Red Bull Records and released their debut EP, Sick, in July of that year. Their first full-length album, Disgusting, dropped in 2014, debuting at number 48 on the Billboard 200 and receiving rave reviews, securing a place among the top albums of the year in multiple publications.

Over time, Beartooth’s lineup evolved, with Taylor Lumley leaving in 2018 to pursue other projects. He was replaced by Zach Huston, and Connor Denis came on board as the full-time drummer. The band’s third album, Disease, was released in 2018, followed by Below in 2021. Their fifth studio album, The Surface, came out in 2023.

Known for their high-energy performances and raw, introspective lyrics, Beartooth has become a major influence in the rock and metalcore scenes, with Shomo’s personal struggles and growth often reflected in the band’s music.
