About BamBam
Kunpimook Bhuwakul, known by his stage name BamBam, is a Thai rapper, singer, and dancer who has made a significant impact in the South Korean music industry as a member of the popular boy band Got7. Born on May 2, 1997, in Bangkok, Thailand. BamBam’s journey to stardom began at a young age, inspired by his mother, a devoted fan of the South Korean singer Rain. His early exposure to Korean pop culture, coupled with his natural talent for dance and music, fueled his aspirations to become a performer.
BamBam started learning dance at the age of 10, joining the dance crew We Zaa Cool, where he performed alongside Lisa, who would later become a member of the globally renowned girl group Blackpink. His dedication to dance and performance led him to participate in various competitions, winning first prize in the Thailand Rain Cover Dance Competition in 2007 and securing second place in the Thailand LG Entertainer Competition in 2010. These early successes paved the way for BamBam to audition for JYP Entertainment, a major South Korean entertainment company, where he passed the audition at the age of 13. This significant milestone marked the beginning of his journey in South Korea, where he trained for three and a half years before debuting as a member of Got7.
Got7 made their official debut in January 2014 with the release of their single “Girls Girls Girls,” and quickly gained popularity with their energetic performances and dynamic music. BamBam’s charm, rap skills, and dancing abilities made him a standout member of the group, earning him a loyal fan base both in South Korea and internationally. The group’s success was reflected in their numerous accolades, including a Seoul Music Award and a Golden Disk Award in 2015, cementing their status as one of K-pop’s leading boy bands.
In addition to his activities with Got7, BamBam also pursued various solo endeavors. He became a popular figure in South Korean variety shows, co-hosting Mnet’s “M Countdown” and participating in “Real Men” alongside fellow Got7 member Jackson Wang. His influence extended beyond music, as he became a sought-after endorser in Thailand, promoting a wide range of products from telecommunications to fashion, further establishing his presence in the entertainment industry.
After his contract with JYP Entertainment expired in January 2021, BamBam signed with Abyss Company, marking a new chapter in his career as a solo artist. He made his solo debut in June 2021 with the release of his extended play “Ribbon,” which showcased his growth as an artist and solidified his position in the music industry. BamBam continued to release music, including collaborations with prominent artists such as Seulgi from Red Velvet, and embarked on his first world tour, “Area 52,” in 2023.
BamBam’s influence is not limited to his music. He is widely recognized for his impact on social media, particularly in Thailand, where he has a strong following. His Twitter account was the most mentioned entertainment account in Thailand in 2019, reflecting his widespread popularity. BamBam’s journey from a young boy in Thailand with dreams of becoming a performer to a global K-pop star is a testament to his talent, hard work, and unwavering dedication to his craft. His success continues to inspire fans around the world, making him a prominent figure in the ever-evolving landscape of K-pop.
