Babyface Ray

Marcellus Rayvon Register, better known as Babyface Ray, is an influential American rapper and songwriter from Detroit, Michigan. Born on February 7, 1991, in Detroit’s East Side, specifically in the 6 Mile area, Ray’s musical journey began early, shaping his distinct style within the city’s vibrant hip-hop scene.

Ray first gained recognition as a member of Team Eastside alongside fellow Detroit rapper Peezy in 2010. His solo career took off with the release of his debut mixtape MIA Season in 2015, followed by Ghetto Wave in 2017 and MIA Season 2 in 2019. The latter’s hit single “Move to LA” gained viral success, especially on TikTok, further establishing his presence in the music industry.

In 2021, Babyface Ray released his EP Unfuckwitable, featuring collaborations with artists like EST Gee, Moneybagg Yo, and Kash Doll, which debuted at number 128 on the Billboard 200. The following year, he dropped his debut studio album Face, which peaked at number 31 on the Billboard 200 and showcased collaborations with big names like Yung Lean, G Herbo, and Pusha T.

Ray’s momentum continued with the releases of Mob in December 2022 and Summer’s Mine in July 2023. His 2024 album The Kid That Did debuted at number 71 on the Billboard 200. Known for his conversational flow and insightful lyrics, Babyface Ray has solidified his place as a key figure in contemporary hip-hop.
