About AP DHILLON
Amritpal Singh Dhillon, known professionally as AP Dhillon, is an Indo-Canadian rapper, singer, and record producer who has made a significant mark in the Punjabi music scene. Born on January 10, 1993, in Mullianwal, a small village in the Gurdaspur district of Punjab, India, Dhillon grew up in a Punjabi Sikh family. His early education took place at Little Flower Convent School, and he later pursued a degree in Civil Engineering from Baba Kuma Singh Ji Engineering College in Amritsar. Seeking new opportunities, Dhillon moved to Canada, where he obtained a diploma in Business Administration and Management from Camosun College in British Columbia. Before diving into the music industry, he briefly worked at Best Buy, but his passion for music soon led him to pursue a full-time career as an artist.
AP Dhillon’s music career officially began in 2019 when he released his debut single, “Fake,” in collaboration with Shinda Kahlon under their independent label, Run-Up Records. He soon made his presence known by appearing in the video for “Faraar” by Gurinder Gill and Shinda Kahlon, also taking credit as a producer. However, it wasn’t until 2020 that Dhillon truly gained traction in the music scene. His single “Deadly,” produced by Gminxr, entered the UK Asian chart and reached number 11, while also placing within the top five of the UK Punjabi chart. The following track, “Droptop” with Gurinder Gill, also charted well on both UK Asian and Punjabi charts.
In June 2020, Dhillon achieved his breakthrough with the hit single “Majhail,” a collaboration with Gurinder Gill and Manni Sandhu. The song dominated the UK Asian and Punjabi charts, marking a career-high for Dhillon. This success was followed by another chart-topping single, “Excuses,” a collaboration with Gurinder Gill and Intense. In September 2020, Dhillon further cemented his status with “Brown Munde,” a track produced with Gurinder Gill, Gminxr, and Shinda Kahlon. The song became a sensation, even making its way onto Apple Music charts in Canada and debuting at number one on the UK Asian chart.
Later that year, Dhillon released his first collaborative album, Not by Chance, with Gurinder Gill and Money Musik. The album featured seven tracks, all of which charted in New Zealand and ranked among the top five on the Official Punjabi Music Chart in the UK. In 2021, Dhillon and his team embarked on their first live concert series, “Over The Top – The Takeover Tour,” performing across six major cities in India. His growing popularity also led to a partnership with Boat for brand collaborations.
In 2022, Dhillon’s reach extended further when he collaborated with Amazon Prime Video to promote season three of The Boys, incorporating an exclusive version of his track “Insane” in the trailer. The following year, in 2023, Dhillon made history as the first Punjabi-language artist to perform at the prestigious Juno Awards in Edmonton, Canada, where he delivered a memorable performance of his hit song “Summer High.”
With two successful EPs, Not by Chance (2020) and Hidden Gems (2021), as well as multiple chart-topping singles, AP Dhillon has become a defining voice in Punjabi music, blending traditional sounds with contemporary beats. His collaborations with artists such as Sidhu Moose Wala, Gurinder Gill, and Gminxr have propelled him into international stardom, and his influence continues to grow with each release.
