About Anne-Marie

Anne-Marie whose full name is Anne-Marie Rose Nicholson, born on April 7, 1991, in East Tilbury, Essex, is an English singer and songwriter celebrated for her chart-topping singles and dynamic music career. Raised by a local teacher mother and a builder father from the East End of London, Anne-Marie was introduced to performing arts early on. Her initial foray into the spotlight came at the tender age of twelve when she appeared in the West End production of Whistle Down the Wind. Despite facing challenges in her teenage years, including bullying and personal struggles, Anne-Marie’s passion for music persisted. Her early experiences were marked by both triumph and hardship, including a stint in professional karate that taught her discipline and focus—qualities that would later become integral to her music career.

Anne-Marie’s journey to stardom began in earnest with her involvement in the music scene as a guest vocalist for acts like Rudimental. She toured with the band and contributed to their second album, We the Generation (2015), gaining significant exposure. Her solo career took flight with the release of her debut extended play (EP), Karate (2015), which featured the track “Karate” and led to her first solo performances. The EP’s success laid the foundation for her debut studio album, Speak Your Mind, released in 2018. The album, which peaked at number three on the UK Albums Chart, included hits such as “Alarm”, “Ciao Adios”, and “2002”, further establishing her as a prominent artist in the UK music scene.

Her subsequent albums, Therapy (2021) and Unhealthy (2023), both debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart. These records continued her streak of successful singles, including collaborations with prominent artists and contributions to soundtracks. Notably, her single “Rockabye” with Clean Bandit topped the charts, and her work with Marshmello on “Friends” cemented her position as a leading figure in contemporary pop music.

Beyond her musical accomplishments, Anne-Marie’s personal life has also attracted media attention. She has been candid about her struggles with anxiety, ADHD, dyslexia, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and has used her platform to discuss these issues openly. In 2022, she began a relationship with British rapper Slowthai, and the couple secretly married in Las Vegas in July 2022. Anne-Marie and Slowthai welcomed their daughter in February 2024.

Anne-Marie’s career highlights include her tenure as a coach on The Voice UK, where she led her team member Craig Eddie to victory in 2021. Her contributions to the music industry have been recognized with multiple Brit Award nominations and a Grammy nomination for her song “Baby Don’t Hurt Me”. Despite her busy schedule, Anne-Marie’s commitment to her personal well-being and her role as a mother remain central to her life. Her diverse talents and resilience continue to influence and inspire her fans worldwide.
