AMO is one of Slovakia’s most original musical voices, known for their vibrant fusion of rap, reggae, and dancehall. Since forming in 2003, the group—made up of Opak, Moe, and DJ/producer Viktor Hazard—has carved out a distinctive sound that draws from Caribbean rhythms and urban street energy, all wrapped in thoughtful, socially aware lyrics.
Their 2005 debut album Original, released under Universal Music, quickly turned heads in the local scene. It laid the groundwork for what would become a steady output of genre-blending records, including Family Biznis (2007), Positive (2011), and Rok Nula (2013). Each release marked a step forward, both musically and lyrically, as the band tackled personal stories, societal issues, and the everyday pulse of life in Slovakia.
In 2012, they gained wider recognition with the hit single “Swing,” a collaboration with Slovak pop artist Celeste Buckingham. The track’s success helped expand their fan base and proved their versatility across genres.
AMO’s energetic live shows are central to their appeal—full of rhythm, message, and movement. Over the years, they’ve been nominated multiple times for Slovakia’s Slávik music awards, a testament to their staying power and cultural impact.
