Alex Isley, born on April 16, 1987, in Westwood, New Jersey, is an American singer-songwriter and producer known for her silky vocals and seamless fusion of R&B, soul, and jazz. Growing up surrounded by music, she inherited her love for the craft from her father, Ernie Isley of the legendary Isley Brothers. Her passion was nurtured early on, with classical training from her opera-singing grandmother at just 12 years old. This foundation helped shape her distinctive sound, which balances timeless musicality with modern influences.

As a teenager, Alex moved to Los Angeles, where her artistic journey flourished. She attended the LA County High School for the Arts, immersing herself in jazz and performance. Later, she earned a degree in jazz studies from UCLA, refining her skills as a musician and composer. She also experiences synesthesia—a rare condition that allows her to associate music with colors—giving her work a uniquely visual and immersive quality.

In 2012, Alex independently released The Love/Art Memoirs, an EP that introduced her ethereal sound to the world. Over the years, she has collaborated with acclaimed artists like Kendrick Lamar, Lucky Daye, Masego, and PJ Morton, further establishing her reputation as a versatile and sought-after vocalist.
