Darold Durard Brown Ferguson Jr., better known as A$AP Ferg, was born on October 20, 1988, in the vibrant neighborhood of Harlem, New York City. As a rapper, singer, and songwriter, Ferg has made a significant impact both as a solo artist and as a key member of the renowned hip-hop collective, A$AP Mob.

Growing up in Hamilton Heights, Ferg was heavily influenced by his father, Darold Ferguson Sr., who ran a boutique and printed merchandise for iconic artists such as Teddy Riley and Heavy D. Initially drawn to the world of fashion, Ferg attended art school with plans to launch his own clothing line. However, his passion soon shifted toward music, and by 2009, he began honing a unique, aggressive, trap-influenced sound that would come to define his career.

Ferg’s breakthrough came in 2013 with the release of his debut solo album, Trap Lord. The album was met with critical acclaim, landing in the top ten of the Billboard 200 chart. It featured the triple-platinum hit “Work (Remix)” and earned Ferg the coveted “Rookie of the Year” award at the BET Hip Hop Awards.

Following his success, Ferg released several highly regarded projects, including Always Strive and Prosper (2016), Still Striving (2017), Floor Seats (2019), and Floor Seats II (2020). His 2024 album Darold continues to showcase his growth and evolution as an artist.

In addition to his music career, Ferg founded the streetwear brand Traplord in 2012, solidifying his strong connection to the fashion world. His journey from Harlem to global recognition highlights his versatility and influence, both in music and fashion.
