About YUTA (NCT)

Yuta Nakamoto, professionally known as YUTA, is a Japanese singer, dancer, actor, and radio host who has made waves in the South Korean entertainment industry as a member of the popular K-pop group NCT. Born on October 26, 1995, in Kadoma, Osaka, Japan, YUTA grew up with a strong interest in sports, particularly soccer, which he played from age five until sixteen with aspirations of becoming a professional player. However, after seeing the renowned K-pop group TVXQ perform, YUTA’s ambitions shifted toward music, inspiring him to pursue a career as an idol. Despite having no prior training in dance or music, he attended multiple auditions, eventually securing a spot with SM Entertainment in 2012 after passing their first global audition.

After moving to Seoul for training, YUTA was introduced as a part of SM Rookies, a pre-debut group of trainees, in December 2013. Through this program, he began to make a name for himself, appearing on Mnet’s Exo 90:2014 and participating in various remakes of classic K-pop music videos. In 2015, YUTA joined Abnormal Summit as the Japanese representative, further showcasing his charisma and multilingual abilities. His growing popularity culminated in his debut with NCT’s second sub-unit, NCT 127, in 2016, where he played an instrumental role in their first EP, NCT #127. Known for his captivating stage presence and unique vocal tone, YUTA quickly became a favorite among fans and gained the distinction of being the first Japanese member of NCT.

Over the years, YUTA’s versatility and talent extended beyond music into television and radio. In 2020, he became part of NCT’s large-scale project, NCT 2020 Resonance, featuring in songs like “Dancing in the Rain” and “From Home.” He also began his own radio show, YUTA at Home, on Japan’s InterFM897, which became a regular program due to its popularity and served as a promotional channel for NCT 127’s Japanese activities. YUTA’s influence in Japan continued to grow as he appeared in several major magazines, including GQ Japan and Vogue Japan, and represented Tom Ford’s Neroli Portofino fragrance in a high-profile endorsement campaign in 2021.

In 2022, YUTA made his acting debut in the Japanese action film High&Low The Worst X (Cross) and earned a spot on Forbes Japan’s 30 Under 30 list, cementing his reputation as a multifaceted artist. He was later cast in the live-action adaptation of the popular manga Play It Cool, Guys, which aired in April 2023, allowing him to expand his reach into the Japanese entertainment sphere.

On October 3, 2024, YUTA officially launched his solo career with the release of his debut EP, Depth, led by the single “Off The Mask.” Accompanying his debut was a photobook, Now, released on October 17. He embarked on a solo debut showcase tour, YUTA Solo Debut Showcase Tour ~ HOPE ~, across five Japanese cities, concluding in his hometown of Kadoma. His solo work reflects his evolution from a K-pop idol to a seasoned artist who can connect deeply with fans across both Korea and Japan, continually breaking ground as a trailblazer for Japanese artists in the Korean pop industry.
