In 2017, Yung Mal teamed up with his close collaborator Lil Quill to release their debut mixtape, Blessed Lil Bastards, followed by a sequel later that year. Their growing buzz in the rap community led to a major milestone when they collaborated with Gucci Mane on the EP Kids of the 6. This partnership helped solidify their place in the industry.

Yung Mal’s solo career took off with projects like Iceburg (2020) and 6 RINGS (2021), where his smooth flow and compelling lyrics shined through. His 2021 mixtape 1.5 Way or No Way featured collaborations with artists such as Pooh Shiesty and G Herbo, cementing his reputation as a versatile artist.

Apart from music, Yung Mal established his own label, 1.5 Da Label, to mentor rising artists and further expand his influence. In a 2023 interview, he emphasized his growth both personally and professionally, aiming to give back to his community.
