Yung Lean

Jonatan Aron Leandoer Håstad, better known by his stage name Yung Lean, was born on July 18, 1996, in Stockholm, Sweden. He spent his early years in Minsk, Belarus, before moving to the Södermalm district of Stockholm at the age of three.

Yung Lean’s music journey began in 2012 when he formed the Sad Boys collective with producers Yung Gud and Yung Sherman. The following year, he gained widespread attention with his track “Ginseng Strip 2002,” which helped launch his debut mixtape Unknown Death 2002. His first studio album, Unknown Memory, was released in 2014, marking the start of his significant rise in the music scene.

Widely regarded as a pioneer of the cloud rap genre, Yung Lean combines melancholic, introspective lyrics with atmospheric, moody beats, creating a unique sound that resonated with a global audience. Over the years, he has collaborated with fellow artists like Bladee and has been closely linked to the Drain Gang collective.

Beyond his music, Yung Lean has had a considerable influence on fashion and internet culture, solidifying his status as a cultural figure. Despite personal struggles and controversies, his dedicated fanbase has continued to support him, and his work remains an integral part of modern rap and digital culture.
