Yerin Baek (백예린), born on June 26, 1997, in Daejeon, South Korea, is a critically acclaimed singer-songwriter known for her soulful fusion of R&B, indie pop, and alternative sounds. She first caught the nation’s eye at just 10 years old with a stunning performance of Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing” on SBS’s Star King, earning her the nickname “the 10-year-old ballad genius.”

In 2012, Yerin debuted under JYP Entertainment as one-half of the K-pop duo 15&, alongside Jamie (formerly Park Ji-min). The pair quickly gained popularity with their strong vocals and hit songs like “I Dream,” but by 2015, the group went on hiatus. That same year, Yerin launched her solo career with the self-composed EP Frank, marking a bold step toward artistic independence.

In 2019, she left JYP to start her own label, Blue Vinyl, giving her full creative control over her music. Her first full-length album, Every Letter I Sent You, was a milestone release—an 18-track record, mostly in English, featuring the chart-topping single “Square (2017).” The song made her the first Korean artist to top local charts with an English-language track. The album earned her “Best Pop Album” at the 2021 Korean Music Awards.

Yerin continued to push creative boundaries with her introspective 2020 album Tellusboutyourself.
