Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy, known professionally as XXXTentacion, was born on January 23, 1998, in Plantation, Florida. Raised in Lauderhill, Florida, he faced a tumultuous upbringing, marked by family struggles and run-ins with the juvenile justice system. Despite these obstacles, his love for music blossomed at Sheridan House Family Ministries, where he first learned to play the piano and guitar.

XXXTentacion’s music journey began in 2013 when he started uploading tracks to SoundCloud. His emotionally charged style, blending rap, rock, and electronic influences, quickly caught the attention of listeners. He became a central figure in the SoundCloud rap scene, known for his bold, raw lyrics that often touched on personal pain and controversial topics.

In 2017, he released his debut album, 17, which displayed his versatility and vulnerability, climbing to number two on the Billboard 200 and achieving triple-platinum status. His follow-up album, ? (2018), debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, with hits like “Sad!” propelling it to quintuple-platinum status, and making XXXTentacion the first artist in history to have two songs posthumously reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

While his career was marked by legal troubles, including charges of assault, he also became known for his philanthropy and mental health advocacy. Tragically, XXXTentacion’s life was cut short when he was shot during a robbery on June 18, 2018, at the age of 20. His death sparked an outpouring of grief from fans and fellow artists.
