About Wolf Alice
Wolf Alice is a British alternative rock band hailing from North London, formed in 2010. What began as a stripped-back folk duo between vocalist Ellie Rowsell and guitarist Joff Oddie soon grew into something far bigger and louder with the arrival of bassist Theo Ellis and drummer Joel Amey. Together, the four-piece carved out a sound that’s hard to pin down—fusing grunge, shoegaze, folk, and dream pop into music that’s as fierce as it is fragile.
Their first steps into the spotlight came with the Blush EP (2013), followed by Creature Songs (2014), both of which hinted at their versatility and fearless spirit. It was their debut album, My Love Is Cool (2015), that truly put them on the map. With standout tracks like the nostalgic “Bros” and the feral “Moaning Lisa Smile,” the record earned them a Mercury Prize nomination and confirmed their arrival as a fresh force in indie rock.
Wolf Alice leveled up with Visions of a Life (2017)—a whirlwind of moods and styles that won the 2018 Mercury Prize and proved they weren’t afraid to take risks. Their third album, Blue Weekend (2021), marked yet another evolution, praised for its emotional honesty and cinematic sweep.
Renowned for their electric live shows and Ellie Rowsell’s magnetic presence, Wolf Alice continues to defy genre labels, blending beauty and chaos in a way few bands can. They’re not just making rock music—they’re redefining it.
