About Villain of the Story
Villain of the Story is a metalcore band that emerged from Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 2013. Founded by Sam Fassler (formerly of We Are the Blog! and Insomniac) and Andrew Bart (formerly of Out Came the Wolves), the band’s lineup initially included Christian Grey (vocals), Logan Bartholomew (vocals and bass), and Cody Pauly (guitar).
The band’s early days saw a collaboration with Johnny Franck (formerly of Attack Attack!) in October 2013, resulting in the singles “The Holy One” and “Somebody to Care.” Their live debut came on March 29, 2014, opening for Alesana in Burnsville, Minnesota. Later that year, the band underwent lineup changes, with Logan Bartholomew taking over vocals and Sean Wayne joining as the bassist. The same year, they earned a spot on “The Allstars Tour 2014” in Minnesota.
In 2016, Villain of the Story signed with Stay Sick Recordings, and in 2017, they released their debut album, Wrapped in Vines, Covered in Thorns. They continued to grow their presence in the metalcore scene, releasing their follow-up album Divided in 2022. In 2023, the band announced that Logan James would be stepping away to focus on his streaming career and other musical projects. Despite this shift, Villain of the Story remains a notable force in the genre.
