Tunde (UK)

Tunde Baiyewu, born Emmanuel Babatunde Baiyewu on November 25, 1968, in London, is a British singer and songwriter best known as the lead vocalist of the popular British duo, the Lighthouse Family. With Nigerian roots, Tunde spent part of his childhood in Nigeria before moving back to the UK, where he pursued accounting at the University of Northumbria in Newcastle.

In the early 1990s, Tunde teamed up with keyboardist and producer Paul Tucker to form the Lighthouse Family. Their debut album Ocean Drive (1995) was a massive success, featuring iconic hits like “Lifted” and “High.” The album went on to sell over 1.8 million copies in the UK and spent an impressive 154 weeks on the UK Albums Chart.

Following the group’s hiatus in 2003, Tunde embarked on a solo career, releasing his self-titled debut album Tunde in 2004, and Diamond in a Rock in 2013. The Lighthouse Family reunited in 2019, releasing Blue Sky in Your Head, but in 2022, they parted ways, with Tunde choosing to focus on his solo projects moving forward.

Outside of music, Tunde married Nigerian model Tope Adeshina in 2007. Known for his soulful voice and timeless contributions to music, Tunde continues to be a respected figure in the British music industry, beloved for his enduring talent and heartfelt performances.
