The Vanished People

The Vanished People is an innovative music project from Lanciano, Italy, founded in 2022 by pianist and producer Jacopo Maria Gaeta and guitarist Piero Bonanni. Their sound fuses elements of indie rock, J-Rock, K-Pop, jazz, and electronic music, creating a distinctive style that resonates deeply with fans of anime and video game culture.

The duo’s journey began with the release of their debut single, “AWAKE,” followed by a collaboration with jazz saxophonist Max Ionata on “My Last Tape.” Their breakthrough came with the single “MOKA!” in March 2023, which gained viral attention on TikTok for its J-Rock vibe, reminiscent of the music featured in popular anime. Subsequent tracks like “QUEEN OF THE NIGHT,” “GHOSTRADE,” and “SNAP SNAP” further defined their unique sound, incorporating K-Pop influences and expanding their musical range.

In October 2023, The Vanished People released their School Trip EP, which garnered attention, particularly the track “Castaway.” The song gained traction on TikTok, thanks to its connection with the Reverse:1999 video game, which led to a collaboration with the game’s creators. The band wrote the song “Backwards,” featured in the Panoramic Ripples Fan Concert, broadcast live on the Reverse:1999 channel.

Their recent singles, “Glass Moon Dance” and “SOUL VACATION,” incorporate jazz, funk, and fusion, with playful references to pop culture, such as homages to Pulp Fiction and The Aviator.

The Vanished People continue to push musical boundaries, blending pop and indie influences to create a truly unique sound.
