Marea Stamper, better known as The Blessed Madonna, is an American DJ, producer, and musician recognized for her influential work in house, techno, and disco music. Born on October 22, 1977, in Louisville, Kentucky, her musical journey was shaped early on by her father, the blues legend Nick Stump, and her stepfather, who introduced her to the world of electronic music. Her career took off in Chicago, where she became a staple at the renowned Smart Bar, honing her craft and building a reputation as a rising star in the dance music scene.

Stamper first gained widespread attention under the stage name “The Black Madonna,” a persona that helped her earn Mixmag’s DJ of the Year award in 2016. However, in 2020, she made the decision to change her stage name to The Blessed Madonna, a move meant to address concerns about cultural appropriation and to honor the cultural significance of the term. Alongside this change, she launched her record label, We Still Believe, which reflects her commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and creating a platform for underrepresented voices in the music industry.
