He initially rose to prominence under the pseudonym “Konnichiwa Tanita-san” (こんにちは谷田さん), where he created music using Vocaloid technology. Kitani’s musical journey began at a young age, drawing inspiration from influential bands like Asian Kung-Fu Generation and Vola & the Oriental Machine. During his school years, he formed several bands, including “Hitsuji no Mure wa Warawanai” (羊の群れは笑わない) and “humanic,” where he played bass and vocals. These early experiences helped refine his abilities in composition and arrangement.

The following year, he graduated from the University of Tokyo and formed the band “sajou no hana” with Sana and Sho Watanabe, releasing their debut single “Hoshie” in August 2018.
Kitani’s solo discography includes I Do (Not) Love You (2018), Seven Girls’ H(e)avens (2019), Demagog (2020), and BIPOLAR (2022). In 2024, he joined forces with Kento Nakajima to form the duo GEMN, known for their anime tie-up songs like “Fatal” for Oshi no Ko and “Where Our Blue Is” for Jujutsu Kaisen.
