About Stray Kids

Stray Kids (스트레이 키즈), also known as SKZ (스키즈), is a South Korean boy group under JYP Entertainment. Formed through the 2017 reality show of the same name, the group officially debuted on March 25, 2018, with their first mini album, I am NOT. Stray Kids initially debuted with nine members but currently consists of eight: Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N. Former member Woojin left the group in 2019 for personal reasons.

The formation of Stray Kids is unique as it was documented through a reality survival show, where the members were brought together and tested their abilities to rise through the competitive K-pop industry. The show highlighted their journey and struggles, capturing the attention of many fans even before their official debut.

Stray Kids has become renowned for their self-produced music, with many of their songs being written and composed by the members themselves. Three of the members, Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han, are part of a pre-debut hip-hop crew called 3RACHA. This trio is known for composing and producing the majority of Stray Kids’ discography, contributing significantly to their distinct and bold sound. Their music often features a grungier, rock-influenced style compared to their K-pop contemporaries.

Stray Kids quickly gained popularity with their energetic performances and unique sound. Their avid fanbase, known as “Stay,” has supported them throughout their journey, helping them achieve numerous milestones. In 2023, they won the Best K-Pop Award at the MTV Music Video Awards, cementing their status as an international sensation.

One of their most-streamed songs in the U.S. is “God’s Menu”. According to Bang Chan, the song wasn’t originally intended to be a single, but its demo impressed Hyunjin so much that they decided to release it. The song quickly became a hit and is a testament to their creative instincts and ability to resonate with a global audience.

Since their debut, Stray Kids has released a substantial body of work. They have four studio albums (three Korean and one Japanese), four compilation albums, one reissue, 13 extended plays (10 Korean and three Japanese), two single albums, and thirty singles. Their discography reflects their versatility and dedication to exploring various musical genres and themes.

Their latest album, Rock-Star, features the title track “LALALALA”, showcasing their continued evolution as artists. Stray Kids’ music often addresses personal and social themes, resonating with a broad audience and demonstrating their depth as musicians.

The members of Stray Kids bring diverse backgrounds and talents to the group. Bang Chan, the leader, is known for his strong leadership and production skills. Lee Know, formerly a backup dancer for BTS, brings his exceptional dance talent to the group. Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N. each contribute their unique vocal, rap, and performance skills, creating a well-rounded and dynamic group.

Stray Kids’ journey from a reality show to international fame is a story of talent, hard work, and dedication. They continue to push boundaries and set new standards in the K-pop industry, making them one of the most influential and beloved groups of their generation.
