Spinall, born Oluseye Desmond Sodamola on June 2, 1984, in Lagos, Nigeria, is a celebrated DJ, record producer, and songwriter who has made an indelible mark on the Afrobeat and electronic dance music scenes. Growing up in a family immersed in music, with his parents’ collection of vinyl records from artists like Fela Kuti and King Sunny Adé, Spinall developed a passion for music from an early age. He went on to pursue a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Olabisi Onabanjo University, while also honing his musical skills at Tenstrings Music Institute.

Spinall’s music career took off in 2004 when he began working as a radio DJ at Raypower 100.5 FM. In 2014, he founded TheCAPMusic, a record label, and released his debut single, “Gba Gbe E,” featuring Burna Boy. Since then, he has collaborated with some of the biggest names in African music, including Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Asake, Davido, and Yemi Alade.

Notably, Spinall made history as the first African DJ to perform at the SXSW festival in 2015 and became the first Nigerian DJ to perform at the Glastonbury Festival. In 2024, he made waves again by becoming the first Afrobeats DJ to perform at Coachella.

With six studio albums, including My Story: The Album (2015), TEN (2016), and Top Boy (2023), Spinall has solidified his position as a pioneer in the music industry. His style blends AfroPop, hip hop, R&B, and EDM, reflecting his versatility and innovative approach to music. Spinall has received numerous awards, including the All Africa Music Awards and The Beatz Awards, for his groundbreaking contributions to both Afrobeat and global music.
