Sofia Carson

Sofía Lauren Daccarett Char, professionally known as Sofia Carson, was born on April 10, 1993, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to parents who had emigrated from Barranquilla, Colombia. From a young age, Sofia showed an affinity for the arts, which led her to attend St. Hugh School and later graduate from Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart in Miami. Her passion for performing was nurtured at In Motion Dance Studio, where she was part of the IMPAC Youth Ensemble program, competing across the United States. After high school, she pursued higher education at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), majoring in communications with a minor in French.

Sofia Carson’s entry into the entertainment world began in 2012 when she signed with Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) as a singer-songwriter. Two years later, in 2014, she made her television debut with a guest appearance on the Disney Channel series Austin & Ally, followed by a recurring role on MTV’s Faking It. However, her breakthrough came in 2015 when she was cast as Evie, the daughter of the Evil Queen, in Disney’s musical fantasy film Descendants. In 2019, she was appointed the first Global Ambassador of the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation, advocating for music education and scholarships.
