Sonny John Moore, better known by his stage name Skrillex, is an influential American DJ, record producer, singer, and songwriter. Born on January 15, 1988, in Los Angeles, California, Skrillex initially made his mark as the lead vocalist of the post-hardcore band From First to Last in 2004. After recording two albums with the band, he left in 2007 to pursue a solo career, transitioning into electronic music.
Skrillex gained widespread recognition in 2010 with the release of his debut EP My Name Is Skrillex, followed closely by Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites. The EP’s unique blend of dubstep and electronic elements set him apart, earning him multiple Grammy Awards, including Best Dance Recording for the track “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites.”
In 2014, Skrillex released his first full studio album, Recess, which debuted at number four on the Billboard 200. He continued to push the boundaries of electronic music with projects like Quest for Fire and Don’t Get Too Close in 2023, solidifying his place as one of the genre’s most innovative artists.
In 2025, Skrillex surprised his fans with the release of his fourth studio album, FCK U SKRILLEX YOU THINK UR ANDY WARHOL BUT UR NOT!! <3*. This 46-minute project features 34 tracks and includes collaborations with a diverse range of artists such as Jónsi of Sigur Rós, Dylan Brady of 100 Gecs, and Boys Noize. Marking his final release under Atlantic Records, this album signifies a new chapter as an independent artist, further cementing his legacy in the music world.
