Skilla Baby

Skilla Baby, born Trevon Gardner on October 2, 1998, is a rising rap star from Detroit, Michigan, whose music blends raw street narratives with emotional honesty and poetic flair. Raised on the city’s tough west side, Skilla grew up surrounded by both hardship and culture. From an early age, he was drawn to the emotional storytelling of artists like Lil Wayne, Meek Mill, and Luther Vandross, as well as the powerful words of poets like Langston Hughes—whose poem “Mother to Son” became an early source of inspiration.

He began recording music seriously in his late teens, dropping his breakout mixtape Push That Shit Out Skilla in 2019. The project featured the local hit “Trevon,” a deeply personal track that showcased his lyrical ability and set him apart in Detroit’s competitive rap scene. A joint project with fellow Detroit rapper Sada Baby, titled Carmelo Bryant, further expanded his reach.

By 2022, Skilla Baby had signed with Geffen Records and released We Eat The Most, which earned a spot on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. His 2023 album The Coldest featured high-profile collaborations with DaBaby, Flo Milli, and Rob49, demonstrating his versatility and expanding appeal.

But Skilla Baby isn’t just about music—he’s also committed to giving back. In early 2024, he teamed up with Detroit city officials to support a gun buyback and expungement fair, helping fight violence and offer second chances.
