Shirin David

Barbara Shirin Davidavicius, professionally known as Shirin David, is a prominent German rapper, singer, songwriter, and former YouTuber. Born on April 11, 1995, in Hamburg to a Lithuanian mother and an Iranian father, Shirin David embarked on her public career with the launch of her YouTube channel in March 2014. Her engaging content quickly amassed a significant following, making her one of the most subscribed YouTubers in Germany by 2021, with over 2.7 million subscribers.

Shirin David’s musical journey took off in 2015 when she reached the top 10 of the German charts with her feature on Ado Kojo’s “Du liebst mich nicht,” a cover of a song by Sabrina Setlur. In 2017, she expanded her public presence by serving as a judge on Deutschland sucht den Superstar, the German adaptation of American Idol. The following year, she relocated to Berlin after living in Cologne for several years.

In January 2019, Shirin David released her debut single “Orbit,” a prelude to her first album, Supersize. Her second single, “Gib ihm,” released in February 2019, catapulted her to new heights by reaching number one on the German charts. Her momentum continued with several other successful singles, including “ICE,” “Fliegst du mit,” and “On Off,” featuring Maître Gims. In September 2019, her debut album Supersize was released, topping the German Album Charts. This achievement made her the first national female solo hip-hop artist to reach number one with a debut album.

In addition to her music, Shirin David has ventured into the business world. She released her first perfume in collaboration with dm-drogerie in 2014 and followed up with a second fragrance in 2019, in partnership with Douglas. She also launched various merchandising collections, including a pair of slippers featuring the phrase “GIB IHM.”

Shirin David’s musical career continued to flourish in 2020 with the release of the single “90-60-111,” which became her second number-one hit in Germany and her first in Austria. She collaborated with German rapper Haftbefehl on “Conan x Xenia” and released other successful tracks like “Hoe’s Up G’s Down” and “Never Know” with Luciano. Her sophomore album, Bitches brauchen Rap, released in November 2021, further solidified her position in the music industry.

In 2023, Shirin David expanded her influence by becoming a coach on The Voice of Germany. In July 2024, she released the single “Bauch Beine Po,” which marked her seventh number-one hit in Germany, making her the first female artist worldwide to achieve this milestone.
