Sheryl Lee Ralph

Sheryl Lee Ralph, born on December 30, 1956, in Waterbury, Connecticut, is a powerhouse in the entertainment industry, known for her commanding presence on both stage and screen. She first rose to fame in 1981 with her iconic role as Deena Jones in the original Broadway production of Dreamgirls, earning a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical. Her performance cemented her as a trailblazer in musical theater.

Ralph’s talent extends far beyond the stage. In the late ‘90s, she became a familiar face on television as Dee Mitchell, the wise and loving stepmother on the hit sitcom Moesha.
