Sean Leon, born May 23, 1991, in Toronto, Ontario, is a versatile Canadian artist who blends hip-hop, punk rock, and experimental sounds. A rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, and visual artist, he is also the founder of the IXXI Initiative, a collective that has played a pivotal role in launching the careers of artists like Daniel Caesar. His collaborations with renowned producers such as Jordan Evans and Matthew Burnett have further cemented his status in the music world.

Leon kicked off his music career in 2013 with the release of his debut mixtape, Ninelevenne, the Tragedy, followed by Narcissus, The Drowning of Ego in 2014. His 2017 album, I Think You’ve Gone Mad (Or the Sins of the Father), showcased his evolving sound and artistic depth. In 2021, he took a bold step with the release of God’s Algorithm, experimenting with new distribution methods like NFTs and interactive visuals.

A key contributor to the success of other artists, Leon co-wrote Justin Bieber’s chart-topping hit “Peaches,” which garnered four Grammy Award nominations. He also worked with Kanye West on Jesus Is King and Donda, contributing to tracks like “Selah” and “Use This Gospel.”

In 2023, Leon dropped In Loving Memory, an album that earned critical praise and was longlisted for the 2024 Polaris Music Prize. With his introspective lyrics and groundbreaking production, Sean Leon continues to push boundaries, leaving an indelible mark on the Canadian music scene and inspiring the next generation of artists.
