About Sam Fischer

Sam Fischer, whose real name is Samuel Fischer was born on July 5, 1991, in Australia. He is an accomplished pop-rock singer-songwriter and musician known for his heartfelt lyrics and captivating melodies. Growing up on a farm in Grose Vale, a small town just outside Sydney, Fischer was drawn to music from a young age. His musical journey began at the age of three when he started playing the violin, inspired by a performance he witnessed. Moving to Sydney at age seven, Fischer expanded his musical repertoire by taking up the saxophone at ten and participating in his high school jazz band. By twelve, he was already writing songs, influenced by Human Nature’s self-titled album, which his parents had given him.

Fischer’s formal education in music commenced at Sydney Grammar School and continued at the prestigious Conservatorium High School in Sydney. His talent and dedication earned him acceptance to Berklee College of Music in Boston in 2010, where he honed his skills and became classically trained on both the saxophone and violin. While at Berklee, Fischer joined the a cappella group Pitch Slapped, and in 2014, they won the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella, marking a significant milestone in his early career.

After graduating from Berklee in 2014, Fischer moved to Los Angeles, immersing himself in the local music scene. He initially gained attention as a featured artist on Alex Preston’s single “Heartbeats” in 2012 and later as a backing vocalist for the band Holychild. Fischer’s debut single “Lean,” released in May 2016, marked the beginning of his solo career. He followed this with the singles “Same Friends” and “Getting Older” in 2017, and collaborated with Opia on the single “Secrets.”

In January 2018, Fischer released his debut EP, Not a Hobby, which showcased his songwriting and musical abilities. This was followed by the acoustic EP Sam Fischer (Our Vinyl Sessions) in May 2018. Fischer continued to build his career, collaborating with London’s Black Saint on “Everybody Wants You” in 2019 and touring with Lewis Capaldi. His signing with RCA Records later that year led to the re-release of his single “This City” in December 2019 and the reissue of his EP Not a Hobby in January 2020. The re-released EP reached number 15 on the Australian Artist Singles Chart, further cementing his rising popularity.

Fischer’s songwriting talents have been sought after by a variety of artists, including Ciara, Elle King, Sabrina Claudio, Keith Urban, MAX, Christian French, Andy Grammer, Saygrace, and Jessie J. In February 2021, he gained significant recognition with the release of “What Other People Say,” a collaboration with Demi Lovato. The song charted in multiple regions, including the United Kingdom and Australia, and was featured on Lovato’s album Dancing with the Devil… The Art of Starting Over.

In September 2022, Fischer returned to Australia for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, opening as a support act for British singer Mimi Webb on her tour of Australia and New Zealand. His debut album, I Love You, Please Don’t Hate Me, was released on December 1, 2023, marking a significant milestone in his career. Fischer’s journey from a young musician in Grose Vale to an internationally recognized artist highlights his dedication, talent, and passion for music.
