About Salmo
Salmo, born Maurizio Pisciottu on June 29, 1984, in Olbia, Sardinia, is a trailblazing Italian rapper, producer, and director known for his genre-bending sound and fearless creativity. He began making music at just 13, releasing early demos like Premeditazione e Dolo in the late ’90s. Before launching his solo career, Salmo experimented with rap-metal and punk as part of bands like Skasico and Toedgein, laying the foundation for his aggressive, hybrid style.
His solo breakthrough came in 2011 with The Island Chainsaw Massacre, quickly followed by Death USB (2012). With Midnite (2013), Salmo hit number one on the Italian charts, marking his arrival as a major force in the national music scene. Known for fusing hip-hop with metal, punk, and electronic sounds, he carved out a unique niche and earned accolades like the MTV Hip Hop Award for Best Crossover.
In 2016, he dropped Hellvisback, a platinum-certified album that topped charts and reinforced his position at the top of Italy’s rap game. The success continued with Playlist (2018), featuring massive collaborations and the chart-topping single “90min.” His 2021 album Flop and the 2023 joint project Cvlt with Noyz Narcos kept his momentum strong.
Salmo isn’t just a rapper—he’s a visionary. He acted in and helped create the TV series Blocco 181 and made history in 2022 as the first Italian rapper to headline Milan’s San Siro Stadium solo. With his fearless approach to music and art, Salmo continues to redefine Italian hip-hop.
