About Rachel Platten

Rachel Platten is a singer-songwriter whose journey to success is a true testament to persistence, passion, and belief in one’s voice. Born on May 20, 1981, in New York City and raised in Newton Centre, Massachusetts, Rachel always knew music was her calling. After graduating from Trinity College, she moved to Greenwich Village with nothing but her keyboard and a dream. For nearly a decade, she played small venues, late-night gigs, and cover shows—carrying her own gear and writing songs between sets.

Her early work includes two independently released albums, Trust in Me (2003) and Be Here (2011), both of which showcased her heartfelt songwriting. But it wasn’t until 2015 that everything changed. Her anthem “Fight Song” broke through the noise, touching millions with its powerful message of resilience. The track climbed to number six on the Billboard Hot 100 and hit number one in the UK, ultimately earning her a deal with Columbia Records and a Daytime Emmy for a live performance on Good Morning America.

With that momentum, Rachel released Wildfire in 2016, featuring uplifting tracks like “Stand by You” and “Better Place.” A year later, her album Waves revealed deeper personal themes and artistic growth.

Beyond the stage, Rachel’s life is rooted in love and family. She married Kevin Lazan in 2012 and is a proud mom to two daughters, Violet Skye and Sophie Jo.

Rachel Platten’s music continues to empower and comfort—reminding listeners everywhere that even the quietest voice can make a mighty impact.
