About PinkPantheress

Victoria Beverley Walker, known professionally as PinkPantheress, a singer-songwriter and record producer who was born on April 18, 2001, in Bath, Somerset, England. Her mother, a Kenyan Luo from Kisumu, works as a carer, while her English father is a statistics professor. PinkPantheress grew up in Canterbury, Kent, after her family moved from Bath when she was five years old. She has one older brother who works as an audio engineer. When she was 12, her father moved to Austin, Texas, for work, leaving her and her mother in England. From a young age, she was musically inclined, taking piano lessons and performing “Stand by Me” at a school talent show at age 12. By 14, she was the lead singer in a rock band that covered songs by My Chemical Romance, Paramore, and Green Day.

PinkPantheress began writing music in high school to help a friend before pursuing her own songwriting. At 17, she started using GarageBand to produce music, initially for her friend Mazz and later for herself. She recorded many early songs while lying in her university dorm, often uploading them to SoundCloud under the moniker PinkPantheress, inspired by the Pink Panther film series and a question from the game show The Chase. Her songs received little attention until a snippet of her song “Just a Waste” went viral on TikTok in December 2020, quickly garnering widespread attention.

In early 2021, her songs “Break It Off” and “Pain” went viral on TikTok, with “Pain” peaking at number 35 on the UK Singles Chart. By April 2021, she had signed with Parlophone and Elektra Records. Her single “Just for Me” gained significant traction on TikTok, reaching number 27 on the UK Singles Chart and earning her nominations for several awards. Her debut mixtape, “To Hell with It,” was released on October 15, 2021, and debuted at number 20 on the UK Albums Chart. PinkPantheress performed live for the first time in London in October and November 2021.

In January 2022, PinkPantheress won BBC’s Sound of 2022 poll, and that same month, she released a remix album for “To Hell with It.” She was nominated for a Brit Award for Song of the Year and performed virtually on Roblox for the Brit Awards. She collaborated with various artists throughout the year, including Mura Masa, Lil Uzi Vert, and Shygirl on “Bbycakes,” and Willow on “Where You Are.” PinkPantheress released the single “Picture in My Mind” featuring Sam Gellaitry in August 2022 and followed up with the extended play “Take Me Home” in December 2022.

Her collaborative single “Way Back” with Skrillex and Trippie Redd was released in January 2023. The remix of “Boy’s a Liar,” featuring Ice Spice, became a major hit, debuting at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaking at number three. The remix also reached number two on the UK Singles Chart. In June 2023, she contributed “Angel” to the Barbie film soundtrack, and she continued to release successful singles, including collaborations with Destroy Lonely and Hyunjin of Stray Kids.

In October 2023, PinkPantheress announced her debut album, “Heaven Knows,” which was released on November 10, 2023. She embarked on the Capable of Love Tour in 2024, covering the UK, Europe, and North America. Despite canceling the remaining live performances in 2024 due to health reasons, PinkPantheress has cemented her place in the music industry with her unique blend of bedroom pop, drum and bass, alt-pop, and 2-step garage.
