Pierce the Veil is an American rock band formed in 2006 in San Diego, California, by brothers Vic and Mike Fuentes after the disbandment of their previous group, Before Today. Soon after, they were joined by Tony Perry on lead guitar and Jaime Preciado on bass, forming the lineup that would define their sound.
The band’s debut album, A Flair for the Dramatic, was released in 2007 under Equal Vision Records, showcasing a blend of post-hardcore and pop-punk elements. This album laid the foundation for their future success. In 2010, they released their second album, Selfish Machines, further establishing their place in the alternative rock scene. Their third album, Collide with the Sky, released in 2012, debuted at No. 12 on the Billboard 200 and featured the fan-favorite single “King for a Day.”
After a brief hiatus, Pierce the Veil returned in 2016 with Misadventures, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Rock Albums chart. In 2023, they released The Jaws of Life, continuing to evolve their sound within the rock genre.
Known for their electrifying performances and loyal fanbase, the band has toured extensively, including headlining the We Will Detonate! tour in 2017. In the same year, Mike Fuentes left the band, and Loniel Robinson joined as the new drummer.
Pierce the Veil continues to be a driving force in the post-hardcore and pop-punk scenes, influencing countless artists with their dynamic and passionate approach to music.
