Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike, professionally known as Phyno, is a prominent Nigerian rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer born on October 9, 1986, in Enugu State, Nigeria. Hailing from Anambra State, Phyno has made a significant mark in the music industry with his distinct rapping style in the Igbo language, earning him the nickname “Ezege” (King of Rap).
Phyno’s musical journey began in 2003 as a producer, working with major artists such as Timaya, MI, and Bracket. However, in 2010, he transitioned to rapping and moved to Lagos to fully pursue his career. His debut studio album, No Guts No Glory, released in 2014, included hit singles like “Ghost Mode” and “Man of the Year (Obago),” with the latter winning Best Rap Single at the 2013 Headies Awards.
He followed up with several successful albums, including The Playmaker (2016), Deal With It (2019), and Something to Live For (2021). Beyond his musical career, Phyno is the founder of Penthauze Music, a record label that has signed artists like Cheque and Nuno.
