Pawan Singh, born on January 5, 1986, in Jokahri village near Arrah, Bihar, is a prominent figure in the Bhojpuri film industry. Known affectionately as the “Powerstar” by his fans, Singh has made significant contributions as a playback singer, actor, and music composer. His early exposure to music came from his uncle, Shri Ajit Singh, who taught him the art of singing. Pawan Singh’s initial foray into the world of music involved playing the harmonium at local concerts, where his exceptional talent began to shine.

Singh’s career in music began in earnest with the release of his debut album, Odhaniya Wali, in 1997. His ability to captivate audiences with his powerful voice and energetic performances quickly established him as a key figure in Bhojpuri pop music. Over the years, he released several successful albums, including Kaanch Kasailli in 2005 and Lollypop Lagelu in 2008, the latter of which became a massive hit and is considered one of his signature songs. The song “Lollypop Lagelu” played a pivotal role in elevating his career, and its popularity cemented his status as a leading artist in the Bhojpuri music scene.

Pawan Singh’s transition to acting was equally impressive. He made his film debut with the Bhojpuri movie Rangli Chunariya Tohre Naam in 2004. His performance in the 2007 film Rangli Chunariya Tohre Naam showcased his versatility and solidified his position as a leading actor in Bhojpuri cinema. His subsequent roles in films like Pratigya, Dacait, and Ziddi Aashiq further enhanced his reputation as one of the most bankable stars in the industry. Singh’s ability to portray a range of characters, from romantic leads to action heroes, contributed to his widespread popularity.

In addition to his work in Bhojpuri cinema, Singh made his Bollywood debut with the song “Kamariya Hila Rahi Hai” in 2020, featuring American dancer Lauren Gottlieb. He continued to expand his musical repertoire with Bollywood singles such as “Babuni Tere Rang Me” and “Current,” featuring Payal Dev. Singh also released Bhojpuri cover versions of popular Bollywood songs, including “Lut Gaye” and “Barish Ban Jana,” showcasing his ability to bridge regional and mainstream music.

Pawan Singh’s influence extends beyond his artistic achievements. In 2024, he entered the political arena when the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) declared him as a candidate for the Asansol Lok Sabha constituency in the Indian General Elections. However, Singh later decided to contest from the Karakat Lok Sabha constituency as an independent candidate. Despite his efforts, he was defeated by Raja Ram Singh Kushwaha in the elections.

Singh has received numerous accolades for his contributions to the Bhojpuri film industry, including two International Bhojpuri Film Awards. His vibrant performances, catchy music, and charismatic screen presence have made him a beloved figure among fans not just in India, but also within the Bhojpuri diaspora worldwide.
