Patti LuPone

Patti LuPone, born on April 21, 1949, in Northport, New York, is a celebrated American actress and singer renowned for her powerful voice and commanding stage presence. Widely regarded as one of the greatest Broadway performers, she has left an indelible mark on the world of theater.

LuPone’s career began with The Acting Company in 1972, before she gained fame for her iconic portrayal of Eva Perón in the original Broadway production of Evita (1980), which earned her a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical. Her remarkable talent also earned her a Tony Award for her role as Rose in Gypsy (2008), and a third Tony for her portrayal of Joanne in the 2022 revival of Company.

In addition to her theater work, LuPone has built a diverse career in film and television. She starred in films such as Witness (1985) and Driving Miss Daisy (1989) and earned Emmy Award nominations for her roles in TV shows like Life Goes On (1989–1993) and Frasier (1998). She also made her mark in the world of Ryan Murphy’s television series, appearing in American Horror Story and Pose.

In 2024, LuPone starred alongside Mia Farrow in the Broadway play The Roommate and made her debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the miniseries Agatha All Along.
