Paolo Montalban

Paolo Montalban, born on May 21, 1973, in Manila, Philippines, is a versatile Filipino-American actor and singer celebrated for his work across film, television, and theater. He moved to the U.S. as a baby, growing up in the heart of Manhattan before settling in New Jersey. With music and performance deeply rooted in his upbringing—his father a pianist, his mother passionate about theater, and his aunts trained at Juilliard—it’s no surprise that Paolo found his calling on stage and screen. He attended St. Peter’s Preparatory School and later pursued pre-med psychology at Rutgers University, but the arts ultimately won his heart.

Montalban became a household name in 1997 when he starred as Prince Christopher in the beloved ABC/Disney musical Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, opposite Brandy and Whitney Houston. The film was groundbreaking for its inclusive casting and remains a cherished classic. He would later revisit this iconic role on stage, performing alongside legends like Deborah Gibson and Eartha Kitt, further solidifying his presence in musical theater.

On the small screen, fans may recognize him as Kung Lao from the action-packed Mortal Kombat: Conquest. His film appearances include American Adobo and the war drama The Great Raid. Paolo has also made his mark on Broadway with roles in The King and I, Pacific Overtures, and Breakfast at Tiffany’s. In 2023, he stepped into the role of Florenz Ziegfeld in the revival of Funny Girl.

Most recently, he reunited with Brandy in 2024 to reprise his fairytale role in Descendants: The Rise of Red. Whether in musicals, dramas, or action-packed series, Paolo continues to bring charm, depth, and authenticity to every role he plays.
