About Panchiko

Panchiko is an indie rock band hailing from Nottingham, England, formed in the late 1990s. The original lineup included lead vocalist and guitarist Owain Davies, guitarist and keyboardist Andrew “Andy” Wright, bassist Shaun Ferreday, and drummer John. Their sound is an eclectic mix of DIY emo, dream pop, and zoomergaze, crafting an atmospheric, ethereal vibe that resonates with a unique charm.

In 2000, Panchiko recorded a demo EP titled D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L, which was initially shared with friends but went largely unnoticed at the time. It wasn’t until 2016 that a copy of the EP was discovered in a charity shop in Nottingham. This unexpected find sparked a worldwide search to uncover the band’s identity, and suddenly, Panchiko gained a cult following from fans across the globe.

The resurgence led the band to reunite in 2020, with new members guitarist Robert “Rob” Harris and drummer John Schofield joining the fold. They began releasing remastered versions of their earlier demos, including Ferric Oxide (Demos 1997–2001). In May 2023, Panchiko released their long-awaited debut album, Failed at Math(s), marking a significant milestone in their career. Since then, the band has toured both the United States and Europe, playing to sold-out audiences and cementing their place in the indie music world.

Panchiko’s rise from obscurity to international acclaim is a testament to the timeless power of music and the unexpected paths that can lead to rediscovery.
