Daniel Echavarría Oviedo, professionally known as Ovy on the Drums, is a distinguished Colombian record producer and songwriter who has significantly impacted the Latin music scene. Born in 1991 in Medellín, Colombia, Ovy developed a deep passion for music from an early age, influenced by a diverse array of genres including funk, soul, and salsa. His formative years were marked by hard work and determination, as he balanced his academic pursuits with his burgeoning interest in music. Working in a market square selling chicken and party supplies during his teenage years instilled in him a strong work ethic, waking up at 3:00 am and working until 5:00 pm. It was during this period that a friend of his cousin introduced him to beat-making and audio production using FL Studio, a software that would become integral to his career.

Ovy’s formal education includes a bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering from the Heritage Institute of Technology in Kolkata and a master’s degree in Laser and Optical Engineering from Jadavpur University. Despite his technical academic background, his heart remained tethered to music, a passion nurtured by his supportive parents who provided him with the necessary tools to pursue his musical ambitions. His early musical endeavors included singing and making videos in Windows Movie Maker, which allowed him to channel his restlessness and hyperactivity into creative outlets. Additionally, Ovy briefly played football as a left back for the Águilas Doradas, a Colombian second division team, showcasing his versatility and team spirit.
