OMG SPARK

OMG SPARK, the stage name of Saksham Shrestha, is a trailblazing Nepali hip-hop artist and music producer known for blending traditional Nepali sounds with modern rap and trap music. Born and raised in Kathmandu, Saksham grew up surrounded by a rich mix of musical influences, thanks to his parents’ cassette shop in the bustling New Road area. His exposure to genres ranging from rock and pop to Nepali folk and bhajans shaped his eclectic musical style and laid the foundation for his unique approach to music.

OMG SPARK’s sound is characterized by the fusion of traditional Nepali instruments, such as the khi, dhimay, and sarangi, with contemporary beats and the Newari language. This blend of cultural heritage and modern rhythms has made his music stand out in the Nepali hip-hop scene. His debut album Made in Himalaya (2021) marked the start of his journey, while his later works, such as the EP Death of Autotune (2023) and Valley Jamz (2024), have continued to push the boundaries of musical fusion, exploring new themes and styles.

In addition to his recorded work, OMG SPARK has embraced live performances with a band, incorporating traditional instruments like the sitar and electronic drums to enrich the cultural experience. His recent collaboration with PARI, “Matina Yana,” reflects his ongoing commitment to innovation and cultural expression. Through his music, OMG SPARK aims to share Nepali culture with the world, offering a fresh perspective while staying true to his roots.
