About NMIXX(엔믹스)
NMIXX is a South Korean girl group formed by SQU4D, a sub-label of JYP Entertainment. The group originally debuted with seven members—Lily, Haewon, Sullyoon, Bae, Jiwoo, Kyujin, and Jinni—on February 22, 2022. However, the lineup changed when Jinni left the group on December 9, 2022, due to personal reasons, leaving NMIXX as a six-member group. Despite this change, the group has continued to rise in the highly competitive K-pop industry, gaining popularity for their unique sound and energetic performances.
The formation of NMIXX was announced on July 9, 2021, marking JYP Entertainment’s first new girl group since ITZY’s debut in 2019. Anticipation for the group was high, and JYP released a special “blind package” as part of the pre-debut campaign from July 16 to 25, 2021. This package included the group’s debut album and other related materials, despite the group still being unnamed at the time. Between August 6 and November 19, 2021, the members were introduced individually through various dance videos and cover songs. The final member lineup consisted of Genie (Jinni), Jiwoo, Gyujin (Kyujin), Seolyoon (Sullyoon), Bae, Haewon, and Lily.
The group’s official name, NMIXX, was revealed on January 26, 2022, as a play on the words “New” and “Mix,” symbolizing their goal of mixing new concepts and ideas in K-pop. They made their debut on February 22, 2022, with the release of their first single album Ad Mare, featuring the title track “OO.” The debut was well-received, showcasing the group’s blend of powerful vocals, strong choreography, and experimental music style.
Following their debut, NMIXX quickly established a reputation for pushing boundaries in K-pop. On September 19, 2022, they released their second single album, Entwurf, with the title track “DICE.” The group also ventured into collaborations, teaming up with DreamWorks Animation’s Gabby’s Dollhouse for the song “Kiss,” a cover of the 2009 track by Rainbow, which was released in July 2022. However, in December of the same year, Jinni’s departure from the group created a significant shift, but NMIXX carried on as a six-member ensemble.
In 2023, NMIXX continued to grow in stature with the release of their first extended play (EP) Expérgo on March 20, 2023. The title track “Love Me Like This” became a standout hit, solidifying the group’s reputation for infectious melodies and dynamic performances. NMIXX then embarked on their Nice to MIXX You showcase tour, performing across the United States and Asia, further increasing their international fanbase.
Later in 2023, NMIXX released their third single album, A Midsummer NMIXX’s Dream, featuring the title track “Party O’Clock,” written and composed by JYP Entertainment’s founder, Park Jin-young. The group continued to release music into 2024, with the mini EP Fe3O4: BREAK and its follow-up Fe3O4: STICK OUT, marking a new chapter in their musical evolution.
NMIXX’s distinct blend of K-pop with experimental sounds, high-energy choreography, and strong vocals has garnered them attention both in South Korea and internationally. With hits like “OO,” “DICE,” and “Love Me Like This,” the group has quickly become a prominent name in the next generation of K-pop, continuing to captivate audiences with their innovative style.
