Nisha Deshar

Nisha Deshar is a prominent Nepali singer known for her significant contributions to the country’s music scene. Born on December 12, 1984, in Chapagaun, Lalitpur, she hails from a family rooted in Nepali culture. Her father, Gyanlal Deshar, and mother, Chiri Maya Deshar, supported her passion for music from a young age.

Nisha began her musical career in 2001 (2058 in the Nepali calendar) with her first recorded song, “Twota Womha Yeju,” sung in Nepal Bhasha (Newari). She later pursued formal music education, earning a diploma from Prayag Sangeet Samiti in Allahabad, India. Nisha’s discography spans a variety of genres, with notable albums such as “Lokarpan” (2010), “Nisha” (2013), and “Sharab” (2014). These albums feature a mix of ghazals and modern songs that have garnered her a wide fanbase.

Throughout her career, Nisha has earned numerous accolades, including the prestigious Image Award, Bindabasini Award, Kalika Award, and Rapati National Ghazal Award. These honors reflect her lasting impact on Nepali music and her distinctive voice in the industry.

In addition to her music career, Nisha took on the role of narrator for the 2016 animated film The Legend of Shankhadhar, a depiction of the historical figure Shankhadhar Sakhwa. Through her work, Nisha continues to elevate Nepalese culture and music, showcasing her diverse talents and commitment to the arts.
