Nicky Jam

Nick Rivera Caminero, born on March 17, 1981, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, is better known by his stage name Nicky Jam. Raised in a vibrant cultural mix of Dominican and Puerto Rican heritage, Nicky Jam’s early life was a whirlwind of musical influences and personal challenges. His family moved to Puerto Rico when he was ten, in part due to his father’s legal troubles. His career revival was marked by successful singles like “Voy a Beber” and “Travesuras,” leading to a contract with Sony U.S. Latin. His collaboration with Enrique Iglesias on “El Perdón” in 2015 was a massive hit, earning him a Latin Grammy for Best Urban Performance.

The release of his 2017 album, Fénix, symbolized his career resurgence. The album, whose cover featured a mural of Nicky Jam in Medellín, topped the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart and was a critical success. It included collaborations with Sean Paul, J Balvin, and Kid Ink, and featured his hits “El Amante” and “Si Tú la Ves.” The success of Fénix was followed by Nicky Jam’s acting debut in XXX: Return of Xander Cage and his involvement in the 2018 FIFA World Cup anthem “Live It Up,” which further cemented his international presence.
