Nestor (Band)

Nestor is a Swedish melodic rock band hailing from Falköping, originally formed in 1989 by a group of childhood friends: Tobias Gustavsson (vocals), Jonny Wemmenstedt (guitar), Marcus Åblad (bass), Martin Frejinger (keyboards), and Mattias Carlsson (drums). Starting out as teens inspired by the sounds of progressive rock legends like Yes, Genesis, and Rush, the band quickly made a name for themselves in the local scene, even winning Sweden’s prestigious Musik Direkt competition in 1993. Despite their early promise, Nestor never released a full-length album at the time and eventually drifted apart in the mid-90s as life took them in different directions.

Fast-forward three decades, and Nestor made an unexpected and triumphant comeback in 2021, fully embracing the spirit of ’80s rock with big hooks, soaring choruses, and a retro aesthetic. Their debut album Kids in a Ghost Town was a love letter to the era, earning rave reviews and a Swedish Grammis nomination. The album also featured a surprise collaboration with pop icon Samantha Fox, blending nostalgia with fresh energy. In 2024, they followed up with their second album, Teenage Rebel, further cementing their place in the modern rock revival. Known for their electrifying live shows—including a standout performance opening for Kiss at Sweden Rock Festival—Nestor continues to win over fans around the world with their heartfelt homage to rock’s golden era, proving that it’s never too late to chase the dreams of your youth.
