About Morgan Wallen

Morgan Wallen whose full name is Morgan Cole Wallen, born May 13, 1993, is an American country pop singer and songwriter. He first gained attention as a contestant on the sixth season of The Voice, originally on Usher’s team before moving to Adam Levine’s team. Although he was eliminated in the playoffs, Wallen’s time on the show helped him gain a foothold in the music industry. He signed with Panacea Records in 2015 and released his debut EP, Stand Alone.

In 2016, Wallen signed with Big Loud Records, where he released his debut album, If I Know Me, in 2018. The album featured successful singles like “Up Down” (featuring Florida Georgia Line), “Whiskey Glasses,” and “Chasin’ You.” The album reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, solidifying Wallen’s presence in country music.

Wallen’s second album, Dangerous: The Double Album, released in January 2021, became a massive hit, making history by spending its first seven weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200—a first for a country album. The album produced several hit singles, including “More Than My Hometown,” “7 Summers,” and “Wasted on You.”

His third album, One Thing at a Time (2023), continued his success, topping the Billboard 200 for 19 non-consecutive weeks. All 36 tracks from the album charted on the Billboard Hot 100 simultaneously, setting a record. The single “Last Night” from this album became his first to reach No. 1 on the Hot 100 and set the record for the most weeks at number one for a non-collaboration song.

Wallen was born in Sneedville, Tennessee, and grew up in a musical household. His father was a church pastor, and his mother was a teacher. He was a talented baseball player in high school but had to give up the sport due to an injury. After high school, Wallen pursued music, inspired by artists like Keith Whitley and Eric Church.

Wallen’s early career saw him participating in The Voice and eventually moving to Nashville, where he formed a band and began working with industry professionals. His rise to fame included stylistic shifts, including his adoption of a mullet, which became part of his signature look.

Wallen’s career has been marked by both significant success and controversy. In February 2021, he faced backlash after a video surfaced showing him using a racial slur. The incident led to temporary suspensions from his record label, removal from radio playlists, and disqualification from award shows. Despite this, Wallen’s popularity continued to grow, with album sales surging after the controversy.

Wallen has since apologized for the incident and made donations to the Black Music Action Coalition. His music has continued to perform well on the charts, and he remains a prominent figure in country music. His Dangerous Tour was a commercial success, and he has continued to release hit singles and collaborate with other artists.
