MIKE, born Michael Jordan Bonema on October 13, 1998, in Livingston, New Jersey, is an American rapper, songwriter, and record producer known for his introspective lyrics and innovative production style. Growing up in various places like England, Philadelphia, and New York City, these diverse experiences shaped his music and worldview. His musical journey began at just 14 years old when he recorded a cover of MF DOOM and Madlib’s “All Caps” while living in Philadelphia.

In 2015, MIKE co-founded the underground hip-hop collective Slums, which features artists like Adé Hakim and Jodi.10k. That same year, he released his debut EP Belgium Butter on Bandcamp. His breakthrough came in 2017 with the release of May God Bless Your Hustle, a mixtape that was praised for its raw emotion and authenticity.

MIKE’s subsequent projects, including Black Soap (2018), War in My Pen (2018), Renaissance Man (2018), and Showbiz! (2023), showcase his growth as an artist. Showbiz! in particular received widespread acclaim for its mix of ’80s boogie, gospel influences, and lush soundscapes, marking a reflective period of personal grief and artistic development.

Known for his authenticity and emotional depth, MIKE continues to push the boundaries of alternative hip-hop, earning recognition for his innovative approach to music and his honest exploration of life’s complexities.
