Marwan Moussa – مروان موسى

Marwan Moussa (مروان موسى) is an Egyptian-German rapper, producer, and songwriter known for blending trap, mahraganat, and Arabic music into a distinct sound. Born in Ismailia and raised in Cairo, Moussa initially studied film at the American University of Rome before shifting his focus to sound engineering in Los Angeles in 2016, which set the stage for his music career.

Moussa’s debut album Bel Monasba (2017) garnered attention for its introspective lyrics and smooth delivery, offering a contrast to the often aggressive tone of Egyptian rap. His breakout track, “Nhayt El 3alam” (2019), earned him widespread acclaim, followed by successful projects like Florida (2021) and Import//Export (2023), which showcased his versatility, blending Western trap influences with Egyptian shaabi rhythms.

In 2022, Moussa’s track “Batal 3alam” earned him several accolades, including three awards at the All Africa Music Awards, cementing his place as a prominent figure in African hip-hop. Additionally, he contributed to the 2023 charity single “Rajieen,” a collaborative effort with other artists aimed at supporting Palestinian relief during the Gaza conflict.

Following the death of his mother in late 2023, Moussa’s music took a more introspective direction. His 2024 EP Denial and upcoming album First Stage: Denial explore themes of grief and vulnerability, marking a shift from his earlier bravado.

With over 230 million streams on Anghami and 180 million YouTube views, Moussa is one of the top-streamed Arab rappers, alongside Wegz and ElGrandeToto. His recent European tour, including stops in London and Berlin, underscores his growing international reach.
