Mariah the Scientist, born Mariah Amani Buckles on October 27, 1997, in Atlanta, Georgia, is a rising star in the world of contemporary R&B. Before stepping into music, Mariah had dreams of working in the medical field—she studied biology at St. John’s University in New York City, aiming to become a pediatric anesthesiologist. But as fate would have it, music pulled her in another direction. With a voice full of emotion and a pen to match, she began writing and recording her own songs, eventually sharing them on SoundCloud.

Her debut EP To Die For (2018) quickly caught the attention of listeners and industry insiders alike, landing her a deal with RCA Records and Tory Lanez’s One Umbrella imprint. In 2019, she released her first full-length album Master, a raw and reflective body of work that introduced her deeply personal songwriting style. She followed that with Ry Ry World in 2021 and To Be Eaten Alive in 2023, her most acclaimed project to date, which earned her a spot on the Billboard 200 for the first time.
