Finishing second in the competition, Carrasco’s career quickly skyrocketed, earning him a prominent place in the Spanish music industry. His humble beginnings in a seaside town shaped his artistic vision, where he worked as a painter with his father and brothers while pursuing music with a local carnival group. By the age of 16, Carrasco was leading the group, an experience that cultivated his love for performance and music.

At the age of 30, Carrasco auditioned for Operación Triunfo (Spain’s version of Star Academy), where his natural charisma and vocal talent captivated audiences. Though he finished as a runner-up to Ainhoa Cantalapiedra, his participation in the show was transformative, offering him the opportunity to represent Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest 2002, though the honor ultimately went to fellow contestant Beth. Shortly after the show, Carrasco released his debut album Quiéreme in 2003. The album, produced by Miguel A. “Capi” Arenas, was a huge success, selling over 200,000 copies and earning multiple Platinum certifications.

Carrasco quickly established himself as more than just a reality show contestant, showcasing his songwriting skills by composing four tracks on his debut album. His subsequent albums solidified his reputation as a skilled and authentic musician. In 2004, he released his self-titled second album, Manuel Carrasco, where he wrote all 13 tracks. It sold over 100,000 copies and led to an extensive tour, further expanding his fan base. His third album, Tercera Parada (2006), recorded in the U.S. and Spain, featured the single “Y Ahora,” which became a hit. Carrasco’s ability to blend traditional Spanish rhythms with contemporary pop sensibilities earned him critical acclaim and commercial success.

Carrasco’s work continued to evolve with his fourth album, Inercia (2008), recorded in Buenos Aires under the direction of producer Cachorro López. The album yielded the hit single “Sigueme” and a duet with Malú titled “Que Nadie,” which became a Platinum-certified chart-topping success. His musical achievements were recognized with numerous awards, including the “Premio Dial” and “Premio Musical 2005” for best new artist.

In 2012, Carrasco released his fifth album, Habla, which debuted at number one on the Spanish Albums Chart and was certified Platinum. The album was later reissued as Habla II with additional tracks. Celebrating his ten-year career milestone, he released the compilation album Confieso que he sentido in 2013, recorded in London and produced by Grammy-winner Martín Terefe. This compilation included both his greatest hits and four new tracks.

Carrasco’s discography continued to grow, with subsequent albums like Bailar el Viento (2015) and La Cruz del Mapa (2018), both achieving multi-Platinum certifications. In 2022, he released Corazón y Flecha, which also reached the top of the Spanish charts. Throughout his career, Manuel Carrasco has maintained a deep connection with his audience, blending heartfelt lyrics with captivating melodies, and remains a beloved figure in Spanish music. He is married to Almudena Navalón, with whom he has a child, continuing to balance his personal and professional life with grace and authenticity.
